It's not a huge place, but it is quaint and quiet. The perfect little spot for a breakfast. The walls are decked with photos and menus. A very cute place and their food options are great. This is definitely my morning spot from now on.
After sooo many years still very reasonably priced food..and great umbiance.
Finding Penny Lane Café was a little adventure on its own. With no signage to guide you, it’s tucked down a narrow lane between Coats for Africa and a pawn shop—easy to miss if you don’t know what you’re looking for. My first impression? A bit intimidating. I’m used to being greeted and seated at the door, but no one seemed to notice us as we arrived. The café was packed and buzzing, filled with the comforting aroma of breakfast in the air. After standing at the entrance for about five minutes, I decided to take the initiative and ask for a seat. I was placed at a communal table with other customers—something that felt quite odd at first but turned out to be part of the charm. It quickly became clear: this isn’t your typical breakfast spot. Penny Lane plays by its own rules. What really stood out? The prices. It felt like stepping into 1920. In a city like Cape Town, finding tasty, no-frills food at such affordable prices is unheard of. The breakfast was simple, but surprisingly good—and kind to the wallet. Definitely returning.
